Investigative procedures were conducted with Paul Whelan, arrested in Moscow on suspicion of espionage, while there were no meetings with any ambassadors, Whelan's lawyer Vladimir Zherebenkov told Sputnik on Thursday
Whelan holds US, Irish, Canadian and UK citizenships.
"Investigative procedures took place today, while the meeting with an ambassador did not ... Investigators are behaving correctly, Paul is confident and doesn't plead guilty, considering this a mistake and believing the investigators will sort everything out," Zherebenkov said.
Whelan, a 48-year-old security director with a US automotive parts supplier, was detained in December after allegedly coming to Moscow to attend a friend's wedding.
