Iraqi Foreign Minister Invites Lavrov To Visit Republic - Baghdad

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 21st November, 2018) Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali Alhakim invited Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to visit the middle Eastern country, the Iraqi Foreign Ministry said Wednesday in a statement.

Earlier in the day, Alhakim discussed bilateral relations with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov in Baghdad, according to the ministry.

"The [Iraqi] foreign minister invited his Russian counterpart Mr. Lavrov, to visit Iraq in the framework of strengthening relations between the two countries. On his part, Mr. Bogdanov expressed Moscow's aspiration to cooperate with Baghdad in various fields, stressing the desire of Russian companies to invest in Iraq," the statement reads.

On Tuesday, Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi extended an invitation to Russian President Vladimir Putin to visit Iraq at a meeting with Bogdanov.
