MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 06th February, 2019) Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar will fly to Brussels on Wednesday for Brexit talks with senior EU officials ahead of next week's vote in the UK parliament.
European governments have stepped up preparations this year for a no-deal Brexit after the Commons voted in January to reject the proposed terms of UK's withdrawal on March 29.
The taoiseach is expected to hold talks with Donald Tusk, the president of EU's highest body, the European Council, and European Commission chief Jean-Claude Juncker.
Varadkar will outline the work done by his cabinet in preparation for a no-deal scenario and the support it may need from Brussels to contain the fallout from UK's chaotic departure.
The Commons is reportedly expected to vote on a revamped Brexit deal on around February 14. Prime Minister Theresa May has repeatedly promised to renegotiate the backstop provision to avoid a hard Irish border, a vow rebuffed by both Brussels and Dublin.
