Islamists Collecting Money For IS Using Telegram Detained In Tomsk Region - Russia's FSB

A group of Islamists who were collecting money for Islamic State (IS, banned in Russia) militants in Syria using secret chats in the Telegram messenger have been detained in the Tomsk Region, Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) said in a statement Thursday

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 15th November, 2018) A group of Islamists who were collecting money for Islamic State (IS, banned in Russia) militants in Syria using secret chats in the Telegram messenger have been detained in the Tomsk Region, Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) said in a statement Thursday.

"The activity of an organized group of persons involved in the collection of funds and the provision of financial services in the interests of the international terrorist organization Islamic State has been stopped in the Tomsk region," the statement said.

The FSB said emissaries from the IS center abroad had controlled groups of collectors of funds for terrorists.
