Israeli Gov't Briefed on Mission to Moscow Over Il-20 Plane Crash - Source

TEL AVIV (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 21st September, 2018) The Israeli government has been briefed on the results of the military mission to Moscow to defuse tensions over the downing of a Russian plane in Syria, a senior Israeli officer told Sputnik.

"We coordinated all our actions with the national leadership, politicians ... Upon its return the delegation immediately informed the political leadership about the results," the army officer said.

An Israeli military delegation led by Air Force chief Amikam Norkin came to Moscow on Thursday for high-level talks with Russian military officials.

The source said that findings shared with the Russians about Monday's plane crash were final.

Ties between Russia and Israel soured after the Il-20 military aircraft was lost off Syria's western coast during an air raid by four Israeli fighter jets on Syrian targets. Russia's Defense Ministry later said that Israeli F-16s deliberately put its plane under the attack of Syria's air defenses. Fifteen Russian service members died.
