TEL AVIV (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 20th January, 2019) A series of airstrikes on a Damascus airport on Sunday was in line with Israel's policy to degrade Iranian presence in Syria, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said.
"Our permanent policy is to oppose Iran's attempts to gain a foothold in Syria and to hurt those who is trying to hurt us," Netanyahu was quoted as saying by his press office.
The Russian military said Syria's air defenses had repelled an air attack by four F-16 fighter jets, striking down seven missiles fired at Damascus International Airport. No casualties or damage were reported.
