Abidjan, Sept 11 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News, app - 11th Sep, 2018 ) :Ivorian police on Tuesday used tear gas and stun grenades against stone-throwing students protesting education fees outside the economic capital Abidjan's sprawling Houphouet-Boigny University, an AFP reporter said.
"Enough is enough. Our parents can't afford it." The students are also demanding scholarships and better studying conditions.
Such clashes, often violent, are not rare in the West African country.
FESCI, the Student Federation of Cote d'Ivoire, grew out of a youth group that backed the 2000-10 regime of former president Laurent Gbagbo. It was seen as responsible for racketeering and violence on campuses.
