Japan, Russia Agree To Continue Cooperating On North Korea Denuclearization - Kono

TOKYO (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 30th May, 2019) Japan and Russia have agreed to continue cooperating on North Korea's denuclearization, Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono said Thursday after 2+2 talks of Russian and Japanese defense and foreign ministers.

"As regards the recent developments around North Korea, we have exchanged views and agreed that we will continue cooperating to achieve denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, a common goal of Japan and Russia," Kono told reporters after the meeting.

"The sides will continue discussions about cooperation on response to non-traditional threats and consultation on nuclear disarmament, non-proliferation of nuclear arms, issues of international and regional security. We seek to further develop Russia-Japan cooperation on the international fora," Kono added.
