Japan's Uno Opens Season With Lombardia Trophy Gold

Milan, Sept 15 (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Sep, 2018 ) :Olympic and world silver medallist Shoma Uno of Japan opened his season by winning a third straight gold at the season-opening Lombardia Trophy figure skating event in Bergamo on Saturday.
Uno, 20, extended his lead from the short programme to take gold by a margin of nearly 26 points in front of Russia's Dmitri Aliev after the free skate in northeastern Italy.
Russia's Andrei Lazukin dropped from second after the short programme to take bronze.
Earlier, former world champion Elizaveta Tuktamysheva of Russia also successfully defended her women's title.
The 21-year-old -- the 2015 world and European champion -- led both the short programme and free skate to win by a margin of 20 points over 16-year-old Russian Sofia Samodurova.
Mako Yamashita surged into the bronze medal position from fifth after the short programme ahead of fellow Japanese skater Kaori Sakamoto who finished fourth.
Russia went 1-2 in pairs with Natalia Zabiako and Alexander Enbert successfully defending their title ahead of compatriots Aleksandra Boikova and Dmitrii Kozlovskii.
Italy's Charlene Guignard and Marco Fabbri are poised to take a third straight ice dance gold as they held the lead going into the free dance final.
