A joint shipping company with Syria will help Crimea become a "gateway" for Syrian-Russian trade, Syrian Economy Minister Mohammad Samer al-Khalil said Thursday
"The foundation of a joint shipping company between the Crimean republic and Syria allows us to develop navigation and strengthen ties.
It allows Crimea to become a real gateway for the flow of Syrian projects into Russia and of Russian products deliveries to Syria," the minister said at the International Economic Forum in Crimea's Yalta.
The economy minister added that Syria would continue resolving customs issues with Abkhazia and South Ossetia in order to broaden cooperation with the countries.
A large delegation from Syria, including 28 businesspeople, as well as government ministers and other officials, is in in Crimea for the forum, which will run through Saturday.
