Kazakhstan Confirms Syrian Armed Opposition To Attend Astana Talks

BRUSSELS (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 24th November, 2018) Syria's armed opposition will be present at the next Astana peace talks in Kazakhstan's capital, Kazakh Foreign Minister Kairat Abdrakhmanov confirmed to Sputnik on Friday.
Astana will host the eleventh round of the so-called Astana process next Wednesday and Thursday. The opposition has been expected to join the talks.
"The participants will be, as usual, the guarantor states - Russia, Turkey and Iran - UN monitors and Jordan, the Syrian government and the Syrian armed opposition," Abdrakhmanov said.
The negotiators will seek to reaffirm the warring parties' commitment to ceasefire in areas across Syria. A working group on prisoner exchanges will meet for a regular, sixth session, the diplomat added.
