Kiev Pechersk Lavra Catches Fire, Blaze Tackled By Firefighters - State Emergency Service

One of the buildings in the Kiev Pechersk Lavra Orthodox monastery caught fire on Monday with firefighters having already tackled the blaze, the Ukrainian State Emergency Service said in a statement
The emergency services received a phone call about the fire at 5:17 p.m. (15:17 GMT). The fire hit a two-floor building, embracing the area of 200 square meters (over 2,150 feet).
"At 8:07 p.
m. [18:07 GMT] the fire was tackled. According to preliminary information, no people were killed or injured," the statement said.
The Ukrainian State Emergency Service said that building has partially collapsed because of the fire. The blaze was tackled by 46 firefighters and 12 vehicles.
The Kiev Pechersk Lavra is one of the most ancient monasteries of the Kievan Rus. In 1990, the monastery was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
