Kiev Says Close to Compromise With Russia on Deployment of Peacekeepers to Donbas

Kiev's representative in the subgroup on security in Donbas, Yevgeny Marchuk, said Tuesday the Ukrainian and Russian authorities are close to a compromise on the deployment of the UN peacekeeping mission to the conflict zone in Ukraine's southeast

KIEV (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 25th September, 2018) Kiev's representative in the subgroup on security in Donbas, Yevgeny Marchuk, said Tuesday the Ukrainian and Russian authorities are close to a compromise on the deployment of the UN peacekeeping mission to the conflict zone in Ukraine's southeast.

"Ukraine has set a condition who can't take part in the peacekeeping contingent [in Donbas]. But a compromise was preliminarily found there. Russia [speaks] for the absence of NATO, and we for the absence of CSTO countries. A compromise was more or less found there in principle. However, it is still preliminary," Marchuk told reporters.
