SEOUL (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 18th September, 2018) North Korean leader Kim Jong Un treated South Korean President Moon Jae-in on Tuesday with a shark fin soup as well as with pickles from wild plants, sweet porridge and seafood during a welcoming dinner, a Sputnik correspondent reported from the Seoul press center of the inter-Korean summit in Pyongyang.
Earlier in the day, the South Korean delegation, which consists of 150 people and is headed by Moon, arrived in the North Korean capital for a three-day summit.
The leaders toasted the occasion and had a glass of red wine during the welcoming dinner. The dinner's menu included such delicacies as pickled bellflower roots and mycorrhizal mushrooms, known in Koreas as songrong and matsutake in Japan.
Moreover, Moon brought an antique map of a unified Korea to Kim as a present.
The situation on the Korean Peninsula has significantly improved over the past few months, with Kim and Moon having held two bilateral meetings in April and May, and Kim having reached agreement with US President Donald Trump in June that North Korea would make efforts to promote complete denuclearization of the peninsula in exchange for US-South Korean military drills' freeze and a potential removal of US sanctions.
