Kim Said N.Korea to Remember Red Army Soldiers Who Died for Liberation of Korea - Reports

VLADIVOSTOK (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 26th April, 2019) North Korean leader Kim Jong Un told Russian President Vladimir Putin that the Korean people will always remember warriors of the Soviet Red Army who gave their lives for the liberation of Korea from the Imperial Japanese colonial rule in 1945, the North Korean state-run KCNA news agency reported on Friday.

Kim's words were cited in the agency's article devoted to a solemn reception held in the Russian Far Eastern city of Vladivostok after the first-ever summit between the two leaders.

Kim reportedly told Putin that the peoples of the two states were linked by the feelings of comrades-in-arms.

The North Korean leader praised the Red Army warriors for shedding their blood and devoting their precious lives for the sacred goal of liberation of Korea.

Korea was liberated on August 15, 1945, after Japan surrendered to the Allied forces during World War II. A monument has been installed in central Pyongyang to commemorate the Soviet soldiers.
