MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 11th December, 2018) US State Secretary Mike Pompeo's criticism of the Russian government's public funds management over sending Tu-160 heavy strategic bombers to Venezuela is undiplomatic and inappropriate, especially considering the amount of money Washington spends on defense, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Tuesday.

Earlier in the day, Pompeo referred to the Russian and Venezuelan governments as "two corrupt governments squandering public funds, and squelching liberty and freedom while their people suffer" after Russia's two supersonic bombers had carried out a flight from Russia to Venezuela.

"In this case, it is very undiplomatic to hear it from a state secretary. It is a very serious accusation when voiced in relation to the Russian government. We consider this statement absolutely inappropriate. As for 'squandering public funds,' we disagree. More so, when such a statement is made by a country whose defense budget can feed the whole of Africa," the spokesman said.
