MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 14th November, 2018) Russian President Vladimir Putin briefly spoke to Kosovo leader Hashim Thaci on the sidelines of the celebrations in Paris on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, pointing to the need for Pristina to find consensus with Belgrade and saying that Russia would support their common decisions, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Wednesday.
Earlier, Thaci reported about a conversation with Putin in Paris, during which, he said, they had discussed the possible achievement of a peace agreement between Belgrade and Pristina.
"This, in fact, was not a meeting in our understanding, it was a conversation on the sidelines.
On the sidelines, Putin spoke to a fairly large number of participants in events held in Paris as part of the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I. In fact, Thaci you mentioned was one of them, they really shook hands, were photographed," Peskov said when asked to comment on reports about the meeting.
"Naturally, Putin drew attention to the need, first of all, to find a consensus with Serbia, this is the most important thing. And he certainly said that the agreement that the parties themselves would secure would be supported by us. There actually can be no other way," he said.
