Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika was not asking Russian President Vladimir Putin for assistance in his recent message amid political tensions in Algiers, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Thursday

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 21st March, 2019) Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika was not asking Russian President Vladimir Putin for assistance in his recent message amid political tensions in Algiers, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Thursday.

Earlier in the week, Algerian Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Ramtane Lamamra delivered Bouteflika's message to Putin while in Moscow for talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

"Nobody was asking for Russia's help... We are convinced that it is up to Algerians to decide on their further destiny in accordance with their own legislation and without interference of third states," the spokesman said.
