Kremlin Says Did Not Discuss Issue Of Asking Ukraine To Reimburse Crimea's Economic Losses

The Kremlin has not discussed the recent initiative of the Russian lawmakers to demand that Kiev should reimburse the economic losses suffered by Crimea over the period when the peninsula belonged to Ukraine, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Monday

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 18th March, 2019) The Kremlin has not discussed the recent initiative of the Russian lawmakers to demand that Kiev should reimburse the economic losses suffered by Crimea over the period when the peninsula belonged to Ukraine, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Monday.

On Friday, the Russian lower house speaker, Vyacheslav Volodin, tasked lawmakers with assessing losses suffered by the Crimean economy when the peninsula was part of Ukraine in order to seek reimbursement from Kiev.

"I am unaware of this issue ever being discussed in the Kremlin. As for the basis for such an initiative, it's probably better to ask the State Duma," the spokesman said.
