MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 22nd April, 2019) The Kremlin said Monday that it treated with respect the choice that the Ukrainians made at Sunday's presidential election.
Volodymyr Zelenskiy is winning the Ukrainian presidential runoff with over 73 percent after 99 percent of the ballots have been counted.
"Moscow respects the choice of the Ukrainian people, as their choice very obvious," Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
At the same time, it was yet too early to speak of the possibility to cooperate with Zelenskiy, the spokesman said.
"It's premature to talk about the congratulations on the part of [Russian President Vladimir] Putin to Mr. Zelensky, as well as the possibility to cooperate. One can only judge on specific actions," Peskov said.
The Kremlin also noted that the legitimacy of the Ukrainian election had been compromised by Kiev's decision to deny the right to vote to millions of Ukrainians residing in Russia.
