MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 17th August, 2018) Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Friday that he was unaware of whether Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev and US National Security Adviser John Bolton would discuss during their upcoming talks another possible summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Donald Trump.
On Tuesday, White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders said that Bolton was scheduled to meet with Patrushev in Geneva next week. According to Kremlin presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, the parties may discuss the next Putin-Trump meeting.
"I do not know, I cannot answer this question. Let us wait for the meeting," Peskov said, asked whether the next top-level summit would be included on the Patrushev-Bolton talks agenda.
Last month, Sanders said that Trump had asked Bolton to invite Putin to visit the United States in fall, adding that the consultations related to the possible meeting had already started.
Trump and Putin met for the first official summit in Helsinki, Finland on July 16. The two presidents had a one-on-one private conversation followed by an expanded meeting. The two leaders discussed the Syrian refugee crisis, situation in Ukraine, nuclear proliferation and Russia's alleged meddling in the 2016 US presidential election.
