Kyrgyzstan has ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the press service of the country's president said in a statement on Thursday

BISHKEK (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 14th March, 2019) Kyrgyzstan has ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the press service of the country's president said in a statement on Thursday.

"Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov signed a law on 'Ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations on December 13, 2006 and signed on September 21, 2011," the statement said.

The Kyrgyz parliament passed this law on February 7, 2019.

The main goal of the UN convention is to promote, protect and ensure the full and equal enjoyment of all human rights and fundamental freedoms by persons with disabilities and to encourage respect for their inherent dignity.
