BISHKEK (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 14th March, 2019) Kyrgyzstan wants to increase the bilateral trade with Russia up to $2 billion, President Sooronbai Jeenbekov said on Thursday at the meeting with heads of foreign diplomatic missions.

The remarks were made ahead of the upcoming visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Kyrgyzstan scheduled for late March.

"We are going to further boost our trade and economic relations and increase the [bilateral] trade up to $2 billion," Jeenbekov said.

The president pointed out the positive development of the Kyrgyz-Russian trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian and defense industry cooperation.

Jeenbekov expressed a hope that Putin's upcoming visit to Kyrgyzstan would boost the positive dynamics in the bilateral relations.

"I am sure that as part of this visit we will achieve a number of agreements and deals of mutual interest," the Kyrgyz president added.

Russia and Kyrgyzstan have good relations, being members of a number of international organizations, including the Eurasian Economic Union, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Commonwealth of International States and others.
