Large Russian Delegation To Attend International Fair In Damascus In September - Organizer

A large business delegation from Russia will take part in the Damascus International Fair in September and plans to meet with Syrian businesspeople on its sidelines, Fares Kartally, the fair's director general, told Sputnik on Tuesday.
DAMASCUS (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 14th August, 2018) A large business delegation from Russia will take part in the Damascus International Fair in September and plans to meet with Syrian businesspeople on its sidelines, Fares Kartally, the fair's director general, told Sputnik on Tuesday.
"Russian participation will be quite large, and it has 500 square meters [5,382 square feet] of space allocated. This year, the fair will be marked by the presence of large business delegations, the fair will also feature the second Russian-Syrian meeting of businessmen," the official said.
He added that the fair, which will cover 90,000 square meters, would begin on September 6, and that, apart from entrepreneurs, trade and economy ministers of some participating countries also planned on attending.
According to the official, 48 countries are going to participate in the exhibition some of them officially via embassies, and others through companies.
"We have 24 countries registered to official participate via embassies, the most notable of which are Russia, Iran, China, Belarus, Pakistan, Iraq, Lebanon. Argentina and Venezuela are among the countries which are unofficially involved. Italy, France, Germany and the United Kingdom are participating through companies," Kartally said.
Russian companies that planned on participating in the fair represented the construction and engineering, mining, and agricultural industries, he noted.
"Russia is not only a military partner, but a strategic partner in all dimensions economics, medicine, agriculture and others and we hope that it will play an outstanding role in the country's [Syria's] reconstruction," the official concluded.
Syria has been restoring its cities and infrastructure that were destroyed during its civil war. Russia is actively helping the country return to peace.
