Lavrov To Hold Informal Meeting With Central Asian Counterparts In Moscow Thu - Nur-Sultan

The foreign ministers of Russia and Central Asian states will hold an informal meeting in Moscow on April 4 ahead of the Commonwealth of Independent States' (CIS) Foreign Ministers Council session, Kazakh Foreign Ministry Spokesman Aibek Smadiyarov said on Monday
The CIS Foreign Ministers Council session is expected on April 5.
"On April 4, in the run-up to the session, there will be an informal meeting of the foreign ministers of Russia and Central Asian states," Smadiyarov said.
He also added that Kazakh Foreign Minister Beibut Atamkulov would be among those to take part in the regular meeting of the CIS Foreign Ministers Council under the presidency of Turkmenistan.
During the upcoming session, the foreign ministers will discuss a wide range of regional and international matters, Smadiyarov said. The meeting is expected to produce an action plan that will aim to intensify the partnership between the foreign ministries of the CIS member states.
According to Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Sergey Lebedev, the next meeting of the CIS Foreign Ministers Council the one that will be after April is for October 10 in Turkmenistan's Ashkhabad.
The CIS consists of 10 states that emerged following he dissolution of the Soviet Union: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Ukraine.
