Lebanese Broadcaster Says Crew Assaulted By Protesters In Beqaa

BEIRUT (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 23rd January, 2020) The Lebanese Murr Television (MTV) said on Wednesday that its crew had been attacked by anti-government protesters in Beqaa in the eastern part of the country during a broadcast from the scene.
According to the broadcaster, several people approached the crew, took away the cameraman's cellphone and destroyed the crew's car.
A correspondent said that there were police and military officers nearby at the time of the attack, but they did not do anything to protect the journalists.
Newly-appointed Interior Minister Mohammad Fahmi has condemned the attack and pledged supervision of the investigation into it. Commenting on the actions of law enforcement, he said that by the time officers got to the scene the attackers were already gone.
