LPR Accuses Int'l Community of Negligence After 2 Women Died in Shelling by Ukraine Forces

LUHANSK (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 14th October, 2018) Leonid Pasechnik, the acting head of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR), has accused the international community of failure to act after two women were killed in shelling by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in one of the settlements of LPR.

The LPR people's militia has said earlier that two women were killed as a result of shelling in Marivka settlement.

"This is yet another nefarious violation of ceasefire regime declared at the start of school year. This was the killing before the eyes of the international community with complete inaction on its part," Pasechnik said in a statement.

The conflict in Donbas started in 2014, when Ukrainian authorities launched a military operation against the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics that refused to recognize the new government in Kiev, which came to power after what they considered to be a coup.

In February 2015, the warring parties signed the Minsk peace accords to end the hostilities in the region, but the situation has remained tense, with both parties accusing each other of ceasefire violations.
