Lukashenko Expresses Support For Maduro During Phone Conversation - Press Service

MINSK (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 26th January, 2019) Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko held on Friday a phone conversation with his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolas Maduro, having expressed support for the Venezuelan leader amid the ongoing political crisis in the country, the Belarusian presidential press service said.
"We are strongly rejecting any foreign interference in internal affairs of a sovereign state, including attempts to destabilize the situation in the country," Lukashenko said, as quoted by his press service.
The Belarusian leader also added that Caracas could always count on support of Minsk.
On Tuesday, the opposition-run Venezuelan National Assembly adopted a statement declaring� Maduro a "dictator." On Wednesday,�opposition leader Juan Guaido proclaimed himself the country's interim president at a mass rally in Caracas.
�The United States, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile and Colombia, among others, have recognized Guaido as Venezuela's interim president, while some other countries, including Russia and Mexico, expressed support for incumbent President Maduro.
