Lukashenko Held No Meetings Devoted To Independence Of Belarus - Spokeswoman

MINSK (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 16th December, 2018) Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko did not hold any meetings on the subject of independence of the republic that is allegedly being "pressured by Russia," the president's spokeswoman Natalia Eismont told Sputnik on Sunday.

Media has earlier reported, citing sources, that Lukashenko met with senior officials in a closed meeting format to allegedly discuss the issue of independence under "conditions of pressure exerted by Russia." According to media reports, the meeting participants allegedly decided "to stand up for independence until the end."

"You know, the issue of independence was settled in our country a long time ago, and it is not even discussed. There were no meetings on this topic, it is all the fruit of someone's wild imagination," Eismont said.
