French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel signed Treaty on Franco-German Cooperation and Integration in the German city of Aachen on Tuesday
MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 22nd January, 2019) French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel signed Treaty on Franco-German Cooperation and Integration in the German city of Aachen on Tuesday.
The treaty aims to boost defense cooperation between the two countries, reaffirms their readiness to help if the other one is attacked.
A new Franco-German council on defense and security is set up under the treaty.
In addition, the agreement focuses on border regions and the facilitation of trans-border projects.
The treaty covers several other aspects and builds on 1963 Elysee treaty.
