Max Flight Range Of 9M729 Missile Within INF Treaty Rules At 298.3 Miles- Russian Military

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 23rd January, 2019) Maximum flight range of the 9M729 missile, which is an advanced version of the 9M728, was reduced by 6.2 miles to 298.3 miles during the upgrade and is within the rules set by the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces [INF] Treaty, Russian Missile Troops and Artillery commander Gen. Mikhail Matveyevsky said Wednesday.

"As a result of the [upgrade], maximum flight range of the 9M729 was reduced by 10 kilometers [roughly 6.2 miles], compared to the 9M728 missile and is now 480 kilometers," Matveyevsky said at a briefing.

Matveyevsky added that this flight range was confirmed during 2017 Zapad drills.

The United States is suspecting the 9M729 missile of breaching the INF Treaty.
