Medvedchuk Says Opposition Platform To Refrain From Supporting Poroshenko, Zelenskiy

Viktor Medvedchuk, the chairman of the political council of Ukraine's Opposition Platform For Life, said on Tuesday that his party would not support incumbent President Petro Poroshenko or Volodymyr Zelenskiy in the second round of the country's presidential election
"If you ask what the position of our political force 'Opposition Platform - For Life' will be, we will not support either the first or the second candidate, because we believe that their programs, and what one has done and what the other is going to do is not suitable for Ukraine today and is not suitable for our political force, which will deny them support," Medvedchuk told the Rossiya-24 broadcaster.
Ukraine held its presidential election on Sunday. Zelenskiy has secured 30.23 percent of the vote, while Poroshenko currently ranks second with 15.92 percent, the country's Central Election Commission (CEC) said on Tuesday, after 99.01 percent of the ballots were counted.
According to Ukrainian law, a candidate has to receive over 50 percent of the vote in order to win the election. Since no candidate succeeded in this, Zelenskiy and Poroshenko will face each other in a runoff on April 21.
