MUNICH (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 16th February, 2019) It is vital that Ukraine will preserve its role as a gas transit country despite new pipeline projects in Europe, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Saturday, adding that the pipelines running through Ukrainian territory would continue operating.
"Ukraine needs to remain a [gas] transit country. All the other gas pipelines, Yamal[-Europe running] through Poland for example, will not be stopping anyway because of that. And all the other pipelines that we use have not led to a situation where Ukraine was completely cut off," Merkel said at the Munich Security Conference.
