BERLIN (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 24th May, 2019) German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed the situation in eastern Ukraine by phone, stressing the need for full implementation of the Minsk agreements, German government spokesman Steffen Seibert said Friday.

"The sides in particular discussed bilateral cooperation between Germany and Ukraine, as well as internal political development in Ukraine, including the state of affairs in the east of Ukraine," he said.

"Both stressed the need for full implementation of the Minsk agreements and the interest in continuing close cooperation within the framework of the Normandy format," Seibert said.
