Mexican, Russian Presidents Might Meet at One of International Forums - Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 06th June, 2019) A bilateral meeting between Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador and Russian President Vladimir Putin is of highest interest for Mexico, and it will certainly happen if the two leaders coincide in their attendance schedules of international forums, the deputy secretary of foreign affairs of Mexico, Martha Delgado, told Sputnik on Wednesday.

"President Lopez Obrador plans to attend a number of international forums, and if at any of them his attendance coincides with Putin's, they will certainly hold a bilateral meeting, because it is in Mexico's highest interest," Delgado said.

She has added that Lopez Obrador is more focused on domestic affairs and does not travel abroad often.

Earlier, the Russian ambassador in Mexico, Viktor Koronelli, has said that a meeting between the Russian and Mexican leaders is not scheduled but may happen on many occasions as both states are members of the G20 and Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum.
