MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 15th December, 2018) Militants shelled settlements in the Syrian provinces of Latakia, Hama as well as outskirts of the city of Aleppo over the past 24 hours, head of the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Syrian reconciliation Lt. Gen. Sergei Solomatin said on Sunday.
"Over the past day, terrorists shelled the settlements of Jubb-al-Zarur (two times), Nahshebba, Mamuhiya, Arafit and Sandran in the Latakia province, Zor-Mahruka (two times), Qibriya, Zellaqiyat, Tall-Maraq and Tall-Maktaa in the Hama province as well as the southwestern outskirts (two times) and the districts of Sukkari (four times) and Zahabiya of Aleppo," Solomatin said.
The official pointed out that the Russian Center for Syrian reconciliation had carried out a humanitarian delivery in the settlement of Kafer-Raa in the province of Hama with local residents having received 500 food sets.
Solomatin added that, as of Friday, 30,848 houses, 712 educational facilities and 118 medical centers had been already reconstructed in Syria.
Syria has been in a state of civil war since 2011, with the government forces fighting against numerous opposition groups and militant and terrorist organizations. Russia, along with Turkey and Iran, is a guarantor of the ceasefire in Syria. Moscow has also been providing humanitarian aid to residents of the crisis-torn country.
