MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 25th September, 2018) EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini has said that she will discuss the implementation of the memorandum on Syria's Idlib with the Russian and Turkish foreign ministers, Sergey Lavrov and Mevlut Cavusoglu, on the sidelines of the 73rd Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) in New York on Tuesday.
According to the statement, published on the EU official website on Monday, Mogherini chaired the EU ministerial meeting at the UNGA, where the bloc's foreign ministers discussed, among other things, the implementation of the recently-signed Russian-Turkish memorandum.
"I will discuss this further tomorrow with Foreign Minister [of Turkey Mevlut] Cavusoglu and Foreign Minister [of Russia Sergey] Lavrov, as I had the chance to discuss this already with Foreign Minister [of Iran Javad] Zarif this morning," Mogherini was quoted as saying on the website.
The memorandum was signed earlier in September when Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a meeting in the Russian resort city of Sochi and agreed to set up a demilitarized zone in the Syrian province of Idlib along the contact line of the armed opposition and the government forces by October 15.
