More Than 100 Bird Species Discovered In Macao In 2016: Report

MACAO, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th May, 2017 ) : The wild birds are well-protected in China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), with more than 100 bird species discovered last year, a recent report by the SAR government's civil bureau said.
A total of 126 bird species were sightseen in forests, wetlands, tidal flats as well as parks across the region last year, with eight of them discovered for the first time in Macao, the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau (IACM) of the SAR government said in the report.
The IACM has also discovered five rare bird species last year, which belongs to the second-grade protection animal, including the black-faced spoonbills.
As the IACM has joined a global program to survey the number of the black-faced spoonbills, it has discovered 44 those rare waterfowls and recorded their migration route, the report said.
The IACM has stepped up its monthly survey on wild birds in Macao since 2006. Besides, it has planted fruit and nectar plants, as well as mangroves to provide food and shelter for wild birds.
