More Than 120 People Infected With Cholera In Sudan - Reports

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 20th September, 2019) At least 124 people count infected with cholera in southeast Sudan, local media reported on Thursday, citing the Sudanese Health Ministry.
According to SUNA news agency, 101 people tested positive for cholera in Blue Nile state and 23 in Sennar state.
Cholera is a severe diarrhoeal infection that kills through acute dehydration. Its pathogen, the Vibrio cholerae bacterium, is transmitted through digestion of or contact with contaminated food or water. According to the World Health Organization, up to 4 million cholera cases are registered annually, with up to 143,000 of them being lethal. In May, the organization began a mass anti-cholera vaccination across the African continent.
