The leadership of Morocco has yet to discuss Syria potentially rejoining the League of Arab States as a member, Saad Eddine El Otmani, the prime minister of Morocco, told Sputnik on Monday

ADDIS ABABA (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 11th February, 2019) The leadership of Morocco has yet to discuss Syria potentially rejoining the League of Arab States as a member, Saad Eddine El Otmani, the prime minister of Morocco, told Sputnik on Monday.

"We have not discussed this issue yet," Otmani said, when asked about the position of Morocco on the return of Syria to the League of Arab States.

A source in Brussels told Sputnik last week that at least eight members of the 22-state regional body support Syria's return. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said in an interview with Sputnik that Palestine was in favor of Damascus' return.

Syria's membership in the league was suspended in November 2011 after the start of the Syrian conflict.
