Mortality Rate In Ukraine Almost Double Fertility Rate Over Past 11 Months - Statistics

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 20th January, 2019) The mortality rate in Ukraine over last 11 months of the past year was almost twice the birth rate with 100 people dying for every 58 newborns, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine said in a statement.

"A significant excess of the number of deaths over the number of live births remains: there are 58 live births per 100 deaths," the statement said.

The service also reported that as at December 1, 2018, the population of Ukraine was 42.2 million people, which was a result of a decline in the population by 208,800 people during January-November of 2018. The birth rate in Ukraine in 2018 fell by 7 percent compared to the previous year.

According to the statistics service, the data comprises the population permanently residing in a given territory, including those temporarily absent for no longer than 12 months.
