Moscow Airport Reopens Runway After Czech Airliner Skids Off

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 13th January, 2019) Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport has reopened a runway after a Czech airliner skidded off it on Sunday, the airport authority said in a statement.

"Rescue works have been concluded to evacuate the plane of Czech airline Smartwings. Runway 1 has been reopened for takeoffs and landings.

Airport Sheremetyevo is working as usual," it reads.

Flight QS 1003 with 40 passengers and seven crew on board rolled off the runway during takeoff at 2:14 p.m. (11:14GMT). No one was hurt.

The incident at one of Russia's busiest international airports led to delays or cancellations of more than 30 flights. Passengers from the Czech plane were offered to continue on an evening flight.
