Moscow, Ankara May Set Up High-Level Inter-Parliamentary Commission - Russian Delegate

Russian lower house chairman Vyacheslav Volodin and speaker of the Turkish parliament Binali Yildirim discussed on Saturday the prospects of creating a joint high-level inter-parliamentary commission, a member of the Russian delegation said.

ANKARA (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 18th August, 2018) Russian lower house chairman Vyacheslav Volodin and speaker of the Turkish parliament Binali Yildirim discussed on Saturday the prospects of creating a joint high-level inter-parliamentary commission, a member of the Russian delegation said.

On Friday, a State Duma delegation, headed by Volodin, arrived in Turkey for a two-day visit.

"The chairmen of the [International Affairs] committees Leonid Slutsky and Volkan Bozkir were instructed to promptly work on the issues of a possible composition and agenda of the commission," the delegate told reporters after the meeting between Volodin and Yildirim.

During the talks, Russian and Turkish lawmakers also discussed fight against terrorism and regional security at a parliamentary level, according to the Russian legislator.

Moscow and Ankara are cooperating on the settlement of the Syrian crisis. Both countries serve as the guarantors of the ceasefire regime in the middle Eastern state alongside Iran.
