MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 10th December, 2018) The recent expulsion of a Russian diplomat from Slovakia did not affect the two countries' relationship, Slovak Ambassador to Russia Peter Priputen told Sputnik on Monday.

On December 5, Slovak authorities announced they were expelling a Russian diplomat on suspicion of espionage activities. The Russian Foreign Ministry has said it would respond in kind.

"In no case," Priputen said, asked whether the diplomat's expulsion would affect the relations between the two states.

According to the ambassador, the subject of the expulsion was not brought up by the Slovak delegation that is currently in Moscow for parliamentary talks � the sides only discussed cooperation at the parliamentary level.

On Monday, Russian parliament's upper house is hosting an international conference called "The role of parliaments in the modern world. The Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation � 25 years on the path of multilateral development." The parliamentary delegation from Slovakia is also participating in the event.
