MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 11th February, 2019) The Moscow District Military Court on Monday sentenced two militants from the Islamic State terrorist group (IS, banned in Russia) to 15 years in prison each for preparing terrorist attacks on a train in Moscow and at a shopping mall in the Moscow suburb, a Sputnik correspondent reported from a courtroom.

"To give Bakhtier Makhmudov and Zafarkhon Rakhmatov 15 years in high-security colony for multiple offenses," a judge said.

Both men were detained on December 11, 2017, a day before a planned terrorist attack.

During the search, police found detonators and other materials used to make bombs.

"They downloaded a video showing how to make an explosive device, and planned to detonate it at the Moscow Ring Railway station Shelepikha and the Edelweiss shopping center in Balashikha [town near Moscow]," a prosecutor said.

Both terrorists pleaded guilty and asked for indulgence, the court's press service told Sputnik. The ruling can be appealed within 10 days.
