MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 16th August, 2018) A Moscow court took Maria Dubovik, an activist of the New Greatness opposition group, out of custody and placed her under house arrest, a Sputnik correspondent reported from court on Thursday.
In March, Dubovik, Anna Pavlikova and seven other members of the New Greatness group were arrested on suspicion of setting up an extremist group in Moscow. Pavlikova was also placed under house arrest earlier in the day.
"The court ruled to satisfy request of the investigators, to change measure of restraint for Dubovik to house arrest," judge Yulia Rudakova said.
The arrest is set to last until September 13, and Pavlikova is forbidden to use the internet and cellphones.
Earlier in August, media reported about the two detainees' sharp deterioration in health. The Russian penitentiary service responded to the claims last week, saying that Pavlikova and Dubovik were in a medical unit and their health condition was assessed as satisfactory and that there was no need for urgent medical assistance. But on Wednesday, the Russian Investigative Committee said it would seek house arrest for both detainees.
