Moscow welcomes the ceasefire between Israel and Gaza, and expects it to be sustainable and long-term, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement Wednesday.
Israel attacked 160 targets in the Gaza Strip in response to 460 rockets and mortar shells fired by Palestinian militants.
At least seven people died on the Palestinian side, one - on the Israeli side. On Tuesday evening, the sides returned to a truce.
"Moscow welcomes the incoming information about the ceasefire between Israel and Gaza. We hope that the largest armed confrontation between Israelis and Palestinians since 2014 will be stopped by this," the Russian ministry said.
