MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 13th May, 2019) Moscow and Washington still disagree on a number of issues, and it is important to work pragmatically on overcoming their significant differences, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov told Sputnik on Monday ahead of US State Secretary Mike Pompeo's visit to the Russian resort city of Sochi.
Pompeo will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Sochi on Tuesday.
"We find it useful to learn if the US administration is ready to develop the positive impetus that our dialogue experienced after a phone conversation between our presidents, held on May 3.
We presume that there will be a possibility to discuss all the pressing issues in details, from arms control to Venezuela ... We certainly see big differences in our positions, but we do not dramatize this ... The most important thing is to work pragmatically and not to multiply problems but to at least try to overcome them, to the best of ability," Ryabkov said.
Formulating specific steps toward resuming a meaningful dialogue on arms control could become an important result of Pompeo's visit, Ryabkov added.
