The pause in convening the summit of Russia, Germany, France and Turkey on Syria should not be interpreted as an unwillingness of the parties to meet, since all details should be worked out for such a meeting first, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Wednesday.
MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 17th October, 2018) The pause in convening the summit of Russia, Germany, France and Turkey on Syria should not be interpreted as an unwillingness of the parties to meet, since all details should be worked out for such a meeting first, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Wednesday.
"Holding a summit on this topic requires deep study and, of course, progress in the situation on the ground. I do not think that we need to interpret it as some kind of unwillingness, or impossibility, or inconsistency, but, on the contrary, we need to proceed from the fact that the study of all details is ongoing.
If the meeting happens, it should definitely be worked out thoroughly," Zakharova said at a briefing.
She also noted that there was a continuous dialogue between the foreign ministers of the four countries.
On Tuesday, Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov said that the quadripartite meeting of the leaders of Russia, France, Germany and Turkey would take place in the near future. According to him, agreements have earlier been reached on organizing this meeting in Istanbul. On Wednesday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed preparations for the summit.
