MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 26th March, 2019) Moscow is concerned over the recent escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian tensions on the Gaza border and urges both sides to return to the ceasefire, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement Tuesday.

Earlier in the week, at least seven people were injured in central Israel, north of Tel Aviv, by the rocket fire from the Gaza Strip.

In response to the attack, the Israel Defense Forces hit Hamas targets in Gaza.

"Moscow is gravely concerned over the dangerous escalation, fraught with renewed large-scale military confrontation, civilian deaths on both sides and further deterioration of the already deplorable humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, which has been in a long-term blockade," the ministry said.

"We call on the Israelis and Palestinians to show restraint and immediately resume a sustainable ceasefire regime," the ministry added.
